YES the Touch-Vac Containers are dishwasher safe and there is not a better way to clean the container.  To keep from losing any of the small pieces that could clog the dishwashers' filter-system; washing the lids in your sink is recommended.  It seems that over time the clear plastic lids can become etched and scratched from the heated drying cycle in the dishwasher - which varies from dishwasher to dishwasher.  By washing the lids by hand, this will keep the appearance of the container looking pristine.  If the lids are going into the dishwasher, we suggest removing the small orange valve indicator and white dial and either hand washing them or placing them into the silverware rack, and washing the lid on the top rack of the dishwasher. Remember to replace the removed pieces prior to use the containers again.  The bottom to the container can go on either rack of the dishwasher.
